Magazines that (might) Buy Cartoons

From time to time, I will submit my cartoons to magazines that are known to purchase what they call spot cartoons. Cartoons to fill in space in and around the magazine.

Still others look for cartoons to put on their cartoon pages, such as Ebony Magazine's Strictly for Laughs (although I will admit that I have submitted up to 10 different comics & have never had one accepted. But my brother did the first time he tried.)

Magazine cartoons

Magazines often prefer the 8-1/2 x 11 inch single panel "gag" cartoon. You should submit no more than 10 different cartoons at a time. Be sure to include a self address stamped envelope SASE to get them back. They will select what they want & return the rest in the SASE. Sometimes you might notice notes for changes in the art or text. Do so and return the art again.

Before you send off your cartoons, do your homework, like look at the magazine first, to see what style of art they like. Never send your original art. Get a good copy first.

When I have actual information about magazines you can submit to, it will be added to this page, but if you can't wait, I suggest you visit the library to read or buy a copy of the Artist's Market, because that is what I will be using to update my data base.
